Doing my usual thing, sending an entry in minutes before the deadline!
I was working on a more original entry than this, I really was. But too many things happened this past week, and I was left literally with two hours in which to finish the project, and it just wasn't going to happen. So instead of something new to offer in the Myst Fanclub's "Make One, Share One" contest this year, I'm instead going to offer a piece of art that has already existed in my gallery for a while. Still, I actually feel really good offering it as a prize in a contest. I'm quite proud of this painting myself, but I just don't have room for it on my walls. It's been gathering dust in a stack in my room, and I can't really just put it up for sale somewhere, as it's pretty specific fanart and who's going to want to buy it? So instead I'll offer it to someone who'll appreciate it, another Myst fan!
For more detail about the actual picture, see the original deviation page: [link]
It's the original painting, not a print. I wouldn't be sending it glass-and-all though, because the glass would most likely break en route.
So there we go! I'd better get this thing posted before my minutes run out...
I don't know what Myst is, but I LOVE the painting and their expressions. You draw people so well, I have a hard time getting them to look real when they're in comfortable positions like reclining or slouching. I don't know how you do it!

"Look: 'A new teacher can be appointed by the ministry of magic if and only if one is not found by the headmaster.' Dumbledore made a biconditional statement!" (That's nerd humor right there)
Ah, it took a lot of work and erasing and redrawing! Thank you, I really appreciate it.
As to what Myst is, I now have to point you in the direction of a few links because I can't abide people not knowing about my favorite game/book/soon-to-be-movie franchise. It started as a series of puzzle computer games with a very deep story line. There's a trilogy of books that goes along with them, expanding on the history behind the events of the games. This scene comes from one of the books.
Here are the trailers for the games, just to give you an idea of what they're like: Myst -> [link] Riven (my favorite) -> [link] Exile -> [link] Revelation -> [link]
(forgive me for butting in but... this may be another useful link: [link] Man, spamming Myst has become so easy these days, with cheap digital downloads for Myst and Riven and Uru for free...)
A heartfelt WOW to this piece! I like your design for the young lads and the scene is just there, from their poses and expressions. Not to mention the awesome colours. Are we still going to see the original plaaaan for the contest one day?

Ehh, maybe. I'd say yes, but it's turning into a bit of a fiasco, so I may not post the results if I can't make it work.
