Edge Chronicles Babies - Down In Undertown

Ah, The Edge Chronicles! A series of books unlike any other. If you enjoy quirky fantasy with incredibly original world-building and an intricately crafted socio-political landscape that changes believably over the course of the centuries-spanning series, as well as a non-stop torrent of fascinating art by the likes of legendary illustrator Chris Riddell, check these books out! They're co-authored by Chris Riddell and Paul Stewart.

This is my half of an art-trade with , who drew me this fantastic picture of my own Edge OCs. In return she requested a picture combining 3 of her favorite canon characters meeting up somehow at a younger age. Clearly, none of them are babies here, but you get the idea. So here we have young Stope, Wingnut Sleet, and Forficule arriving by coincidence on the same street corner in Undertown one day.

Now, I don't have all the books for reference, and one of the ones I'm missing is Winter Knights, which is where we see Stope at this age. Because of this, and because the Wiki page is quite vague, I don't actually remember the story of Stope's origins before he came to live and work at the forge in Sanctaphrax. Did he come from the city? Was he born in the Deepwoods? I don't know! Either way, I figure he might be running an errand in Undertown at the moment.

Wingnut is out exploring parts of the city he's never been to before, and is on the lookout for potential new contacts. He'd love to work in Sanctaphrax one day, but being a ship's Quartermaster is his backup plan...

And Forficule is arriving in Undertown for the first time, fresh from the Deepwoods! He's never heard so many voices before, and can hardly believe his ears! He knows he's going to love it here.

(Oh, also, that ratbird was drawn completely from memory so I'm sorry if it's inaccurate!)
