Dragonmarkers At Rest

The How To Train Your Dragon BOOK SERIES, on which the first movie was loosely based, is a very different animal from the movies. While I do love the movies (and the TV shows, if I'm honest), they really don't come close to the level of depth and stakes that there are in the books. The first few books are pretty standard middle grade stuff, but stick with the series, trust me!

Here we see Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, Last King of the Wilder West, and three of his faithful dragon companions: Hiccup's riding dragon, the nervous but fiercely loyal Windwalker (who smells faintly of cocoa). Ancient and wise Wodensfang, who once loved a human boy very much like Hiccup. And of course, Hiccup's hunting dragon Toothless, the naughtiest, laziest, most disobedient best dragon in the archipelago! Things get pretty dire during the last few books of the series, and these four are part of a small group called the Companions of the Dragonmark. But this definitely takes place after the series is over, so they can all enjoy some actual down time together.
