The Three Edsels

Don't get me wrong, I love Star Trek. But one of the beefs I've always had with it is that if a character gets cloned during an episode, you can bet that clone is not surviving past the credits. Clones are... inconvenient, you see. Star Trek is not kind to inconvenient life forms. So, in writing my love letter to Star Trek for NaNo last November, this was one of the things I wanted to explore.

Here we see Edsel Bridger, the youngest human on the Casablanca. He was a stowaway, you see, and managed to evade detection right up until the point when a pan-dimensional trickster bundled the entire human population of the ship (sans Anne, the janitor) into a series of crystals and scattered them across an unknown sector of the galaxy as a sort of character-building scavenger hunt. Needless to say, everyone was quite surprised when- much later in the story- they found a kid inside one of the crystals! Circumstances being what they were of course, he became part of the crew and went on to have a ton of adventures...

And then he went and got himself cloned. Twice. In the picture we have Edsel Prime in the middle, Duo on the left, and Tertio on the right. They're all part of the crew now.
